Thinking of Miracles

I’m thinking about miracles today…it’s a great day for Miracles.  Miracles are all around us but we often pass them off as coincidence or miss them all together because we can’t understand how they work…or that they even exist.  I’m thankful for the miracle of life, for the miracle of my family and my pets.  I’m thankful for the miracle of rain today after the long scorching summer… the heat seemed endless. I love watching the rain…it’s so peaceful. I’m thankful for the miracle of health…that I can enjoy life in a healthy body.  I’m thankful for another day. I’m thankful for the miracle of second chances. And I’m watching for more miracles.  You have to believe in miracles.

What miracles are all around you today?

Doors…

Sometimes when we try so hard and nothing appears to be working out, remember it’s always darkest before the dawn.  And closing the doors of the past completely will allow us to open new ones.  We can’t leave these doors open even a little bit if we want to move forward.  Holding on to what has died will not allow you to find what is waiting for you today..

The One You Feed

An old Grandfather said to his grandson, who came to him with anger at a friend who had done him an injustice, “Let me tell you a story.

I too, at times, have felt a great hate for those that have taken so much, with no sorrow for what they do.

But hate wears you down, and does not hurt your enemy. It is like taking poison and wishing your enemy would die. I have struggled with these feelings many times.” He continued, “It is as if there are two wolves inside me. One is good and does no harm. He lives in harmony with all around him, and does not take offense when no offense was intended. He will only fight when it is right to do so, and in the right way.

But the other wolf, ah! He is full of anger. The littlest thing will set him into a fit of temper. He fights everyone, all the time, for no reason. He cannot think because his anger and hate are so great. It is helpless anger, for his anger will change nothing.

Sometimes, it is hard to live with these two wolves inside me, for both of them try to dominate my spirit.”

The boy looked intently into his Grandfather’s eyes and asked, “Which one wins, Grandfather?”

The Grandfather smiled and quietly said, “The one I feed.”

The Gift of Age

“The greatest gift of age is perspective.  Perspective is wisdom.  You only get it by living and then looking back and reflecting”

I Believe…

I Believe…

that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.
that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don’t even know you.
that even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.
that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.
that the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.
that sometimes when I’m angry I have the right to be angry but that doesn’t give me the right to be cruel.
that just because someone doesn’t love you the way you want them to doesn’t mean they don’t love you with all they have.
that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you’ve had and what you’ve learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you’ve celebrated.
that it isn’t always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.
that no matter how bad your heart is broken that the world doesn’t stop for your grief.
that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.
that just because two people argue, it doesn’t mean they don’t love each other.  And just because they don’t argue, it doesn’t mean they do.
that you shouldn’t be eager to find out a secret.  It could change your life forever.
that it’s taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.
that you should always leave loved ones with loving well wishes. It may be the last time you see them.
that you can keep going long after you can’t.
that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.
that we don’t have to change friends, if we understand that friends change.
that no matter how good a friend is, they’re going to hurt you once in a while and you must forgive them for that.
that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.
that you either control your attitude or it controls you.
that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, that passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.
that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.
that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.
that money is a lousy way of keeping score.
that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.
that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you’re down, will be the ones who help you get back up.

The Whole Point of Believing (again)

“People seem to lose faith so easily.  Isn’t that the whole point of believing? Tomorrow always brings promises that today couldn’t make”

You Will Have New Dreams

Sometimes things don’t work out
This doesn’t mean nothing will
One thing isn’t everything
Now isn’t forever even though it may feel like it
Give yourself time to see things clearly
What we feel isn’t always true
In time the disappointments will pass
Your feelings will change
Your life will be different
You will have new dreams
No matter how hard we try
We can’t hold on to today
It will pass
So we must hold its joys and disappointments
With open hands
Because they weren’t meant to stay
But to fill today’s purpose
Let go of your disappointments
So your hands will be free
To accept tomorrow’s blessings
Life is not just one day of your life
But all of your tomorrows
Each day has its own happiness
Enjoy today but then move on
To enjoy all of your tomorrows

Just Love Them

Before becoming a Mother, I had a hundred theories on how to bring up children.  Now I have seven children and only one theory.  Love them, especially when they least deserve to be loved.  Kate Scamperi

Life is full of Possibility

Life is full of possibility, healing, growth and re-birth. A negative past does not have to define who you are. What has been in your life up till now has nothing to do with what can be
