Brandon and Jenna's Mom, a spiritual entrepreneur, philanthropist, animal and nature lover, and author with a financial consultant background.  My passion is turning my past experiences and wisdom into a springboard for helping people through my websites, presentations, and books.  I am the founder of Life Talks, Positive Thoughts on Life, and This Is Not Brandon websites. Why I do this:  I am dedicated to making this world a better place by helping people change and recreate their lives after tragedy.  I do this because I know that no one has to suffer and live in lack no matter what their past may have been, how long it may have been, or what your current circumstances are.  It is my own past and experience that drives me to this purpose.  There is no better teacher and no replacement for experience.

Dream Life ~ are you living yours?

There is no realization of dreams or purpose without difficulty, opposition, disappointment and failure.

History is not destiny. You have free will to overcome, grow, change, invent yourself. If you can dream of your future, you can believe in yourself now.

Dr. Laura Schlessinger

The Power of words and the way we treat others

StoryThis is a story from one of the books I read (I don’t’ recall which one right now). The author is a Psychiatrist in private practice who related this story in his book.

One of his male patients came to his counseling session one day and asked the Dr. to give him advice on how to make his ****** wife miserable. He said he was going to divorce her in 6 months and wanted to make her miserable in the meantime.

The Dr’s response was to spend the next 6 months telling her how beautiful she was, how much he appreciated the things she did, how she was a good wife and mother, and to praise her constantly. The Dr said “after you get divorced she will be completely miserable from not hearing that anymore!”

The man sat and stared quietly at the Dr. with a surprised look on his face. Their session was over a few moments later and he never came back for more counseling. Approximately 1 1/2 years later the Dr. saw this man in a restaurant with his wife (same wife). As the man and the Dr. passed each other in the hall the Dr. asked if he had gotten rid of his ****** wife (knowing he didn’t) and how was life going? The man responded, “My wife is a wonderful person and we are very happy together!”

Obviously he had taken the Dr’s advice and changed his treatment towards his wife, as well as his whole attitude towards the marriage. Just something to think about.

Divorce is better than Unhappiness.

“Divorce is better than unhappiness. No parent should have an unhappy relationship as a role model. A home where love is absent is also no role model for a child” Larry Winget“You don’t marry someone you can live with, you marry someone you can’t live without” Laura Doyle

Goals ~ it just hasn’t happened yet!

Goals set into motion a powerful psychological, spiritual, and emotional force.  Things come to us.  Things begin to happen.  In setting goals, be patient and trust in God’s timing.  Don’t take a goal off your list just because it hasn’t happened yet…sometimes it takes years.  It just hasn’t happened yet.

The Rose ~ by: Bette Midler

The Rose
Bette Midler

Some say love, it is a river that drowns the tender reed.
Some say love, it is a razor that leaves your soul to bleed.
Some say love, it is a hunger, an endless aching need.
I say love, it is a flower, and you it’s only seed.

It’s the heart, afraid of breaking, that never learns to dance.
It’s the dream, afraid of waking, that never takes a chance.
It’s the one who won’t be taken, who cannot seem to give.
And the soul, afraid of dyin’, that never learns to live.

When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows,
Lies the seed, that with the sun’s love, in the spring becomes

the Rose.

Just Thoughts ~

As I was awakening this morning by one of my cats jumping on my bed to greet me, I lay there for a few moments petting her.  As I watched her in total capitulation to me and enjoying the attention I was giving her, I reveled in how content and happy she was to have me stroking her.  I thought “how could anyone turn on someone, human or animal, who is so loving, trusting and vulnerable to another?”  But humans sometimes do ~ animals rarely.

When we give our hearts to another and our hearts are pure towards that person, the betrayal can be crushing to our soul.  And once betrayed by those we love and trust we are changed forever and so is the course of our life.  Love is precious and should be treated with the reverence it deserves.  To give our heart to another is the greatest of vulnerability and meaning.  Should we fall out of love and need to walk away, it is essential that be done with dignity and compassion.   It is completely unacceptable to destroy the heart of another for any reason.

Fortunately, the great majority of people are good and loving, but we are a selfish breed as well.  Perhaps we should allow nature and animals to teach us more about altruism, pure love and loyalty.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY ~ Before I was Mom

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

“God Could not be everywhere, so he created Mothers” Jewish ProverbBefore I was a Mom
Before I was a Mom I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn’t worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom I had never been puked on, pooped on, chewed on, peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn’t want to put it down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn’t stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom I didn’t know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn’t know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn’t know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn’t know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn’t know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

And before I was a Grandma, I didn’t know that all those “Mom” feelings more than doubled when you see that little bundle being held by “your baby”
